الخطوط من أقدم وسائل التعبير الفني منذ البدايات الأولي للفن وحتي الآن ، ومع تطور العصور التاريخية نجد أنها قد واکبت ذلک التطور ، حيث تغيرت مفاهيمها وتعددت أشکالها وتنوعت وظائفها إلي أن أصبحت اليوم ذات قيمة جمالية وتشکيلية في مجالات الفنون بصفة عامة وفن النسيج اليدوي بصفة خاصة ، ويعتبر الخط عنصر من عناصر التصميم الهامة لما له من قيمة بنائية وتعبيرية في العمل الفني . لذا يعد أداة بناء کاملة في حد ذاته له قابلية للتأليف والتوحد لتکوين العمل الفني ، من تلک المميزات والخصائص الهامة للخطوط نجد أن المصمم يمکن استخدامها خلال إبداعيات تثير کثير من المعاني التي تمتد من الاستقرار والاتزان والثبات إلي الإحساس بالحرکة والاندفاع والتوتر والديناميکية ، لذا يسعي البحث الحالي إلي الاستفادة من إمکانيات عنصر الخط في عمل تصميمات نسجية مستحدثة لطلاب التربية الفنية .

Summary
lines are one of the oldest ways of artistic expression since the very beginnings of the art and up till now. It has been developed since then, to go with the development of the historical eras. Fonts changed its perceptions, shapes and uses till it became an aesthetic and plastic value in the arts and specifically the textile art. line is one of the important design elements as it has a constructive and expressive value for art. So it is considered a complete constructive tool which has the ability to unite and comprehend to form the artistic piece. Because of all of these features, the designer can use it in a lot of applications varying from stability, balance and settlement to motion, dash, tension and dynamic movement. The current research aims to make use of the line characters in designing new textile pieces to the art education students.
